GameStop & What You Gamers Need to Know

I am sad to say there is not a GameStop on post! While this is very frustrating there are some things I have found that are quite a benefit to being in Germany when it comes to gaming. So read on and don't despair.  Here is the lowdown of what I have experienced first hand.


Locations:
There are GameStops in Germany. At least one of the staff will usually speak good English. To find locations of GameStop go to GameStop.de - I suggest you search this in Google Chrome so it can translate the page for you.  However to make it less frustrating for you just click HERE and it will take you to the map of where they are. I have only been to the one in Regensburg and it was very nice.

Rewards Card:
The rewards card you currently have from the USA will not work here.  They do have a similar system and you simply sign up for it at the store. I made the mistake of renewing my membership just before leaving for Germany because I heard there was not only a Gamestop on post, but they were in towns as well. Another reason for this blog.  To get information out there that I wish I had known!

Games:
The games are not in English at the GameStop's in Germany.  However when you put them into your console they are automatically translated. Which is great! The only thing that does not work correctly is the bonus codes you get with the games. When you enter those you will get an error telling you it is not for your region. Which is a bit disappointing!  Remember, you can still order from GameStop online.

The PX has a good selection of new and used games. You can pre-order games from them as well as sell your used games back to them.

The bonus you get from living in  Germany is this - You have access to some games specials that are only released in Europe! For instance I recently ordered the Nightmare Edition of Bloodborne off of Amazon.de.  You will need to have it delivered to your German address. Amazon in Germany is super efficient!  If you have an Amazon account in the USA then use the same login on Amazon.de. My point is this set is only released in Europe, had I not been in Germany I would not be able to have it.  I have also been able to find other limited edition sets that sold out fast in the USA but I was able to get them here.

If you order a game from Amazon.com plan on it arriving about a week after the release date. Amazon has tracking right to our APO. So you can look at it and see where it is. The first estimated time will be to the port in NY where all our mail comes from. If you haven't used the mail system here yet for packages it is wonderful. You sign up for it when you get your box and they will notify you by email when you have packages!

While I am still disappointed we don't have a GameStop on post, or even a post near by. I am finding it's fairly easy to get all the games I want. I really hope this helps you gamers out there. Feel free to comment if you have any questions.
