The Bus to Grafenwoehr

The time is upon you. It is your final jaunt to your new post! When it is time to catch the bus you will show up at the designated time. You would have been told when to show up the night before. Please don't be late, we all want to get to our final spot and relax!

Once you check in and they verify your dependents,or no dependents, you will be told what bus to get on. When ready you line up with your luggage and your family.  You will walk out to the parking lot with your luggage and load your own luggage in the belly of the bus. Remember where you put your luggage.  Pets will be in a special area where luggage won't fall on them, but they are still under the bus.  Once your luggage is loaded return the cart to the cart return in the parking lot and get on the bus.

The busses are very nice.  Ours was two seats on each side. There was plenty of room for everyone.  About half way down there is a restroom you can use while on the road.  It is about the size of the restroom on a plane.  There were spots for a little bit of overhead storage for your trip.  Our seats had small fold down tables as well.  The seats were very comfortable and very welcomed after all the traveling.  Your bus will probably stop about half way into the trip so you can get some lunch. You will be brief prior to departure on when and where the bus will stop.

Enjoy your lovely bus ride across Germany. The sights were very beautiful as we drove even though it was snowing we could see a  lot of pretty houses and churches in the distance as well as a surprising amount of vineyards!

Once you are at Grafenwoehr you will need to have your ID cards at the gate.  After you are on post you will be met by your sponsor and the service member will be sent inside to do more paperwork. Be patient, I know it has been a long bus ride.  Most likely it was 6-hours or longer, and you are tired. All the service member has to do is go in and get his in-processing schedule, fill out a little bit of paperwork that takes about 20-minutes then they are set free to get the family settled.

Congratulations! You made your PCS to Germany. I pray it wasn't too stressful for you.
