Demystifying Transformers/Converters USA to Europe

There are several models you can choose from when selecting a Voltage Converter.  Be sure you know what the voltage is of the appliance you intend to use.  Save the box or instructions that your device comes with so you can reference them.

"When selecting an Autotransformer, it is essential that a suitable model is selected of an adequate power rating (VA/Watts) for its intended use. In all cases it is important that the transformer is rated "ABOVE" that of the appliances with which it is intended to be used."

(This is a guide and must not be used as a definite list, check individual rating labels or instructions whenever possible)

Here is what the instructions say they can do:

100W USA to Europe Voltage Converter (Tacima brand): $30+
Mobile  phone Charger, Portable Radio, Personal CD Player, Games Consol, Epilators, Computer Printers, Heat Lamps, Nebulizers.

300W USA to Europe Voltage Converter (Tacima brand): $40+
Mobile Phone Charger, Portable Radio, Personal CD Player, Epilators, Games Consol, Computer Printers, Heat Lamps, Nebulisers, Fax Machine, Laptop Computers, Curling Tongs, Personal Computers, Televisions (ratings vary), Hi-Fi (ratings vary).

2000W USA to Europe Voltage Converter (Tacima brand): $200+
Mobile Phone Charger, Portable Radio, Personal CD Player, Games Consol. Epilators, Computer Printers, Heat Lamps, Nebulisers, Fax Machine, Laptop Computers, Curling Tongs, Personal Computers, Televisions (ratings vary), Hi-Fi (ratings vary), Travel Irons, Hand Power Tools (Electric Drill, etc.), Electric Kettles, Hairdryers.

Adapters: $4+
Adapters are little plugs that slide in the European two prong slot and make it so you can plug in your dual volt devices.  Look on your device to see if it says dual volt. A lot of the newer laptops, cell phones, curling irons, and shavers are dual voltage.

This is a sample of what a device looks like that is dual volt:

See on the bottom here where is says "120v/240v" that means it will work on either of those. So instead of an expensive transformer you just need the inexpensive adapter.

You will also be able to find transformers for sale at thrift stores and housing should give you three of them when you move into your house.  Good luck and I sure hope this helps.
